A Powerful Call To Live Holy Lives By God

Living for God /

Throughout the Word of God, holiness is a standard of living that’s quite common. Besides, we’re under an obligation by God to be holy according to (1 Peter 1:16).

Holiness is so significant to the extent that it is the very factor that will determine whether we’ll be able to see the Lord or not (Hebrews 12:14).

The good news is that holiness is one of the greatest things that Christ’s death has made it possible for us to walk in (Hebrews 13:12).

Obviously, we should be mindful that holiness is completely independent from our own worthiness.

It’s based entirely on what Jesus Christ has accomplished on behalf of humanity by His shedding blood along with what He wants to do through us.

The Call For Holy Living

So, let’s try to examine this scripture verse below.

For God did not call us to be impure, but to live a holy life (1 Thessalonians 4:7).

Holiness falls straight within the doctrine of sanctification.

As you all know, it’s an ongoing process that everyone who has accepted Christ as Savior and Lord must go through under the power of the Holy Spirit.

Sanctification means to set apart for special use or purpose. We’re called by God to be sanctified (1 Thessalonians 4:3).

The way that it all works out is that we’re justified at the moment of salvation, and we’ve become holy, worthy, and acceptable in the eyes of God as a result.

The purpose of sanctification is to preserve that holiness we’ve received from Christ.

We’ve chosen to come to Christ because of realizing that we could no longer continue to live the same type of life we used to live; therefore, that must become the reason why we have to change our ways by embracing Christ’s ways.

If there’s no change that takes place within our lives, it’s completely pointless for us to have come to Christ in the first place.

Bear in mind, we’re responsible as Christ’s followers to please and glorify Him in everything.

How we choose to live is of great importance because it’s the very thing that will demonstrate whether Christ is truly in us.

Living For Christ Must Become a Top Priority

We’re saved not only for the purpose of inheriting eternal life but to live only for the One who came and died and rose for us through the means of holiness.

When it comes right down to it, the choice that we make is very important in determining whether we truly value the full cost of sins that He paid on behalf of us.

We were wretched sinners in the sight of a holy and righteous God, and there wasn’t really something that we could have done within our human ability that would have somehow granted us some level of favor in God’s sight.

Moreover, there’s absolutely nothing that we can ever give back to Christ that can match His priceless sacrifice.

Nonetheless, all God really wants is for us to come to the end of ourselves by realizing how much we have to be willing to live in such a manner that’s consistent with what Christ’s death is intended to accomplish in our lives by submitting ourselves to the authority of His Word.

Lastly, that’s the only thing we can do in order to express our appreciation to God.

We’re not alone because the One who started it is willing to bring it to completion (Philippians 1:6).

Having said that, God knows that it’s impossible for us to live according to His standard within our human ability and effort, so that’s why He sends us the Holy Spirit who is famously known as the “Helper” in order to empower us to resist temptation.

So, let’s seize that awesome opportunity by allowing the Holy Spirit to accomplish His God-given mission through us.
