Let Us Surrender Everything To Christ

Must Know Bible Basics /

Prior to being saved, we were living a lifestyle where anything goes. As a result, we didn’t care about the fact that Christ came and laid down His life on behalf of humanity in order to offer them both forgiveness and salvation. We were so blinded to the extent that where we were going to spend our eternity wasn’t an issue worth consideration. We were living a selfish and self-centered life based on pleasing self by constantly following our sinful nature. Sadly, it’s evident that people who’re not saved are very short sighed and easily deceived due to their current state of spiritual death. The tendency is to assign the utmost level of priority to trivial and worldly things that have literally no eternal significance. Consequently, they end up missing or ignoring the most important aspect of life which is eternity.

It’s mind-numbing to realize that a large number of people who’ve refused to come to Christ have been exposed to the message of the gospel for a long time. But, many of them have allowed the devil to deceive them by embedding in their minds such a backward and disastrous mentality. The idea is to go in the world in order to indulge in all types of sinful pleasures as much as they can irrespective of what the consequences may be, and somehow they think that they’ll have enough time to give their lives to Christ, especially young people. No wonder how many people who’re experiencing the full wrath of God in hell who had spent their whole life clinging firmly unto this type of sickening mindset and behaviors.

It’s quite shocking people hold such a deceptive and destructive mindset without even taking into account that they have absolutely no hold on the future. The fact is that death is inevitable, and it can strike at any moment. Therefore, the choice that we make while we’re alive determines our spiritual state before God, thus decides our entire eternity if we’re taken aback by death. Truthfully, when we find ourselves rebelling against God or running away from Him due to our bold unwillingness to deal with our sins, if we’re honest with ourselves; we should realize that we’re standing on thin ice. On top of that, our future is very insecured because anything can happen as a consequence.

Only Christ Can Satisfy Us.

As humans, we have a huge void deep down us that can only be filled by the person of Christ Himself. In many cases, people finally come to that realization after living such an out of control life where they unsuccessfully tried everything they possibly could in order to fill that void until they finally ran to Christ. People’s tendency is to indulge in sinful activities in order to relieve the intense desires of the flesh; however, it aggravates the situation even further by making such uncontrollable desires to become much more intense, thus more irresistible.

Sin is quite impulsive and controlling by nature; consequently, once it has a strong hold on an individual, it literally places that person into a crippling position in which wise decisions with respect to spiritual matters cannot be made. The Bible tells us in (Ephesians 6:12) that we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. With this in mind, sin is the tool by which Satan dominates people’s lives by holding them captive indefinitely. When we give ourselves over to sin, we give the enemy a legal right for him to operate in our lives in a powerful and abusive manner. Consequently, he gets to bring forth his ministry of theft, death, and destruction upon our lives.

Christ’s Love is Deeper And Greater Than Our Sins.

The good news is that it doesn’t matter how far you’ve fallen into sin and how away you’ve fallen away from God, your victory over sin is still within reach as long you’re willing to surrender everything to Christ by turning away from your sinful ways to His ways.

Delivering people from the controlling power of sin is one of the main purposes of Christ’s death on the cross (Hebrews 9:14, Hebrews 13:12Ephesians 1:7). If God is calling you back to Him is because He’s already provided a way for you to come to Him. Everything essential for you to be able to live a life pleasing to God has already been made available by grace through the person of Christ.

Jesus has been waiting for such a long time, the responsibility is then left up to you to decide whether you want to come to Him or not. Do you value your sinful ways more than your own soul which is priceless? Sin will never deliver all its promises to you except death, misery, corruption, confusion, uncertainty, guilt, shame, and bondage. Perhaps, you’ve spent your whole life desperately chasing temporal things and sinful pleasures with the intent of seeking satisfaction that cannot be found anywhere else other than Christ Himself ( John 4:14John 6:35).

Conclusion

It’s time for you to change course by stopping to dig your own cisterns, broken cisterns that cannot hold water by turning to the spring of living water. All you really have to do is to surrender the very things that you’ve been cherishing all along that have long been a major stumbling block for your own eternity. Invite Christ to take care of everything instead of allowing the sinful thoughts about the fact that you won’t be able to continue to do the very things that you love keep on lingering in the back of your mind.

You must be willing to deal with what’s going on in your mind because your imagination can potentially become your worst enemy. Sin creates such a potent and compulsive memory pattern in the mind which is called stronghold that can be quite hard to resist. How do you deal with that? You deal with that by creating a balance between the detrimental consequences of sin and the awesome blessings of God available to everyone, then you run to the person of Christ.
