We all as believers know that faith is the starting point of the Christian life. We’ve become whom we are in Christ as result of our faith. However, one thing that’s very important is that faith all by itself isn’t what makes the difference. Instead, it’s where you choose to place your faith since there are many who are placing their faith in false gods that can do nothing for them. Placing your faith in such things is nothing more than placing your faith in the devil himself whether you want to admit it or not because he’s the very one behind all of them.

It’s quite interesting that the enemy understands the concept of faith very well. He knows that our strength and endurance are connected to the kind of faith we’re exercising in the person of Christ; therefore, his foremost objective is to weaken our faith which would then cause us to become very susceptible to fall into his traps. Let’s see the kind of life-changing transformation that faith can bring.

Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world (1 John 4:1).

For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God. Being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in His blood, to declare His righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; To declare, I say, at this time His righteousness: that He might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus. Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith. Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law (Romans 3:23-28).

In the passage in Romans, notice how many time the word faith appears. Paul repeats himself and emphasizes that faith is the key to salvation. This is echoed throughout the Scriptures in scores of places. Faith can be a wonderful thing. The book of Hebrews developed a whole chapter to it. While faith is an important part of the Christian life, it can only benefit you if it is placed in the right thing. Faith placed in the wrong things can be dangerous.

In our modern language the word faith has become a word totally separated from its proper setting. People talk about “keeping the faith” when what they actually mean is keep on believing what you think is right, regardless of whether your beliefs are grounded in Scripture or not. There’s nothing wrong with retaining your convictions provided if they are based on the right thing.

You can put your sincere faith in wrong things. It happens all the time. I read once were a woman went into hospital for an operation. They gave her a blood transfusion, however the nurse had somehow accidentally given her the wrong blood type and she died. That woman had faith in the doctors, and the nurse had faith that she had chosen the right blood type.

However, the woman still died despite her having faith. There are a good many cases throughout history where soldiers believed they were given adequate weapons to fight with. Then, while in the field and in the heat of combat they discover the weapons were defective. Although the faith the soldiers had was sincere, it ultimately led to their deaths.

You are foolish if you put blind faith in anything. In fact, Scriptures back this up when John tells us to try the spirits to see if they are of God or not. Just because someone claims to be a Christian or represents God doesn’t necessarily make it so. If they contradict the Word of God then if you put your faith in them it is a deadly faith.

How do you know if they’re telling the truth? Check it out, don’t just blindly follow them because they say they’re telling you what God says. As follower of Christ, you must always be on high alert regarding testing what you are being taught by people who claim to be speaking for God. Why not acting like the Christian in Berea found in (Acts 17:11) “These were more fair-minded than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the Word with all readiness, and searched the Scriptures daily to find out whether these things were so.”

People all over the world put their faith in a dead system. They worship a dead corpse, whether it be Buddha, Muhammed, or some other person. Do you know what that faith is? A deadly faith, for you are saved through faith in the shed blood of Jesus Christ and it is only by His blood that we can be saved.

Faith is one of the most wonderful gifts God has ever given us. By faith in the shed blood of Jesus Christ we can have eternal life, and by faith in His Word we can know the mind of God and the wonderful things He has in store for us. What a joy it is to put faith in the right things. However, faith is a two-edged weapon. You should live by faith, but it can be a deadly faith if it is placed in the wrong things. There are many faiths out there, but only one correct faith. Which one do you have?
