Be Still Before The LORD And Wait Patiently For Him

Must Know Bible Basics /

Why the wicked are prospering while the righteous are struggling to even get by? Have you ever asked yourself that puzzling question? It’s quite interesting to realize that most of the wealth in this world is piled up into the hands of the wicked. Have you ever wondered why the work of the Lord is struggling when it comes down to financial resources while the unjust are just wasting their own money on things that are devoid of any eternal significance?

Lot of times you see many of them in videos throwing their money in the air just to show how they are making money with such an incredible ease and comfort while those who love God and would like to invest greatly in His kingdom are struggling. We’re also witnessing lot of money being spent on evil agendas that will bring God’s eternal wrath on those who are part of these misguided movements if they don’t repent of their sins while investing in kingdom matters that will have an eternal impact on people’s lives is greatly neglected by many.

What can truly be frustrating is when thinking about the enormous sufferings going on all around the world as a result of poverty, and you’re considering steps that can be taken to make a difference in the lives of these people in order to extend God’s love to them, but the problem is that you just don’t have the essential resources to actually carry that out. Besides, lack of financial resources tends to become the prime obstacle many ministries are facing concerning expanding their reach to more people.

The 37th chapter of the book of Psalms has depicted a scenario quite similar to this one being addressed in this post. It shows the advancement of the wicked and the disgrace of the righteous. That isn’t that much different from the kind of environment we find ourselves into. Having said that, the message that God has for us as His children is not to allow their prosperity, their schemes, and their quick successes to cause us to be anxious.

The point is that anything that belongs to this world regardless of its significance in daily life is only temporary. So this leads us to conclude the wealth of the wicked is only temporary. By the way, there’s no hope and future for them as long they keep on living their lives apart from God (Psalm 37:38). Consequently, their fate is eternal destruction (Psalm 37:20).

The good news is that what God has in store for us is infinitely better and greater than anything these people could have ever had or accomplished in this life. God would like us to focus much more on the bigger picture of the mind-blowing blessings that He has in store for us, instead of us focusing on dishonest or temporal gains that will ultimately lead to eternal misery.

There’s nothing wrong with people being successful, prosperous, and wealthy; the problem lies with how they’ve gained their wealth; and which priority they’ve allowed their wealth to occupy in their lives. It’s regrettable that vast majority of rich people have allowed their wealth to occupy the very place that God should have occupied in their lives. It’s not a problem to have money, but it’s a huge problem to let money have you. The role you let your wealth play in your life determines who is in control. Here’s the Word of comfort that God has given us.

Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for Him; do not fret when people succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes (Psalm 37:7).

First, God is the very source of our needs and blessings. As a result, we should depend on Him in order for Him to bless and prosper us as He sees fit. And being anxious about other people’s successes will not make them become ours. Instead, that can potentially lead to sin (Psalm 37:8). The time that you’re wasting in being anxious about other people’s successes could have been better spent in seeking God’s will and purpose for your life.

God has a great plan for us (Jeremiah 29:11). He alone has the right to determine how and when He’ll bless us, so let us be still before Him and wait patiently for Him to intervene. The great thing about God’s blessings is that they are the only types of blessings that can bring real joy, peace, fulfillment, and security. Lastly, we need to also pray for those people who’re ensnared by their own wicked schemes along with their wealth since it’s God’s perfect will that they be saved and inherit eternal life through Christ (2 Peter 3:9).
