People who do not know Christ frequently attempt to justify their rejection of Christianity by saying it is no different than any other religion. Those who are atheists build upon this premise by saying it is no different because religion is the cause of every war. However, these people conveniently neglect the millions that dies under communism, which is an atheist system of belief.

Those who support the ecumenical movement say that Christianity is not unique because we all worship the same God. In fact, Muslims will frequently use this claim in an attempt to present their religion to people who do not know much about religion. They say they worship the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and therefore they worship the same God as the Jews and Christians. On this basis they call for interfaith services, especially after terrorist attacks.

However, if these groups were to be honest they would be willing to admit there is a key distinction that causes Christianity to stand out. Christianity is the only religion that teaches the biblical doctrine of the trinity. A complete reading of the bible and its teachings reveal that there are three distinct individuals, yet they are all God. These are the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost.

When pressed on the issue, these groups such as Islam, Mormonism and others are forced to admit they do not believe in this teaching. As such, it is dishonest for people to attempt to claim that all religions can get together and there is no need to attempt to “proselytize” each other’s adherents.

Some try to say there is only one verse in the bible referring to the trinity and that is (1 John 5:7). However, while that verse is the most direct in declaring the trinity, that is not the only verse that reveals there is more than on God, yet they are one and the same. What about this verse below.

The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all. Amen (2 Corinthians 13:14). 

Paul frequently began and ends his epistles with a reference to the power and grace of God to the believers in the churches he was addressing. Here in (2 Corinthians 13:14), Paul closes out by reminding the Corinthian believers that Jesus Christ, God and the Holy Ghost will be with them to sustain them in the midst of trials and tribulations. It is interesting to note that Paul called attention to those who were members of the most carnal church in the New Testament that three distinct individuals would take care of them.

Make no mistake about it, Christianity is not like any other religion. One of our key foundations is a doctrine that cannot be fully explained, yet is true nevertheless, the trinity.
